In the church, Lent is a period of preparation for Easter. It begins on Ash Wednesday (February 22, six and a half weeks before Easter), and provides for a 40-day fast (Sundays excluded), in imitation of Jesus Christ’s fasting in the wilderness before he began his public ministry. Lent is both a season of lamenting and repentance as we examine our own hearts and consider the ways we betray God’s love, and of promise as we remember the Lord’s passion and journey towards Jesus’ resurrection on Easter Sunday.

There are lots of ways to engage this season including certain types of fasts and devotional journeys. The season of Lent is an appropriate time to consider giving up or setting aside something and/or taking up something new. As we prepare for Easter, we encourage you to prayerfully consider if God is inviting you to set something aside: an unhealthy habit? Something that is no longer serving you well? Something that would be a sacrifice? Or perhaps God is inviting you to take something on: a new spiritual practice? An act of service? A new posture of being?

This year, we invite you to journey through Lent with us by listening to a curated selection of weekly podcasts, starting with the first one on Ash Wednesday (February 22). We invite you to not only listen along, but to make space to process the content more deeply with the Lord and others in community. We're also providing a resource list that we hope will empower you to engage this season as a disciple (a learner) and draw closer to Jesus. However you engage with Lent, it is important to remember that the goal is to look to Jesus, to draw closer to the Christ in faith and trust, and to allow him to take up greater residence in your life:
